Storage Tips & Tricks
Before You Get Here
- Inventory the items you are putting into storage.
 - Label your boxes clearly.
 - Defrost fridges and freezers and be sure to wipe them clean.
 - Leave appliance doors slightly open to allow air flow.
 - Ensure stoves, fridges, and small appliances like microwaves & toasters are clean and free of food particles.
 - Break down large items if possible, for example removing the legs from tables.
 - Use the space within drawers and cabinets to store small items.
 - Remove the propane tanks from BBQ’s and take with you.
 - Drain oil and gas from snow blowers and lawn movers.
 
When You Set Up
- Don’t forget to use the height in your space (with the exception of the two smallest spaces our units are a minimum of 10’ in height).
 - If you are comfortable, consider placing your couch on its end.
 - Stack boxes neatly and avoid using bags.
 - Make a base with large, heavy items and stack smaller and lighter items on top.
 - Store items you will be accessing frequently toward the front of the space.
 - Place plastic (available on site) underneath all vehicles stored inside including cars, motorcycles, snow blowers, and lawn mowers.
